poem by Diane Albertina: "Doing these things every day, we keep moving the ladder between
a presumed heaven and a known earth, between a mind-fed tube of words
and an ordinary street."

MAY ALL OF YOUR STREETS BE EXTRAORDINARY
AND MAY YOUR MINDS PERPETUALLY FIND FULL-TUBES OF COLORFUL WORDS!

Wall Hanging - Rug

Wall Hanging - Rug

I don't know whether it is just my family or if Finns, in general, seem to make more of the notable birthdays. This was a gift to my Mom when she turned 75. Her Aunt Lydia sent it to her. She had a loom and used to make rugs like this, but this one she didn't. She was too old then, but lived to like 99, I think. Large family, but only My grandmother (oldest) and Aunt Lydia (youngest) survived beyond childhood. All others died , I believe, of tuberculosis .
I have it hanging in the living room and have pins attached to it. Most of the pins are enamel and brass stamps issued by the Post Office and presented to Customer Service telemarketing reps for promoting the U.S. Mail delivery. I wasn't in on it, but managed to weasel quite a few "stamps" out of the Postal rep.
